3D Engineering Drawings
Isometric means "equal measurement". The true dimension of the object is used to construct the drawing. Talking in simple terms, in an isometric drawing, the object's vertical lines are drawn vertically and the horizontal lines in the width and depth planes are represented at 30 degrees to the horizontal. While working with 3D isometric drawing protocols, lines parallel to 3 axes are at their true (scale) lengths. Lines that are not parallel to these axes will not be of their true length.
Isometric projection is one of the types of projections that is used in drafting engineering drawings. 3D Isometric Drawing is a method of visually representing 3D objects in two dimensional view in which the 3 coordinate axes appear equally foreshortened and angles between any two of coordinates is 120°.
3D isometric view can be obtained in a 3D scene editor with the camera aligned parallel to the floor and aligned to the coordinate axes. The camera is first rotated downwards around the horizontal axes by 35.264° as above, and then rotated ±45° around the vertical axes.
Isometric Drawing can also be made visualizing a view within a cubical room starting in an upper corner and looking towards the opposite, lower corner. 3D Isometric drawings are based on mathematical systems and it tries to convey a larger degree of realism by applying perspective to the drawing.
